Sun Sapphires | Durango, CO

At the intersection of fine craftsmanship and creative expression, Sun Sapphires is quickly establishing itself as one of Durango’s most distinctive art studios. Located at 640 Main Avenue, the business is the shared vision of Nicole and Adam Parker, a husband-and-wife duo whose complementary talents have created a vibrant space where both artistry and expertise flourish.

Sun Sapphires specializes in one-of-a-kind jewelry and glass art, each piece thoughtfully designed and handcrafted in-house. From custom rings and pendants to luminous stained-glass panels, every creation reflects a unique artistic voice and a commitment to quality.

Sun Sapphires is more than just a studio or gallery—it’s also a place to learn. Led by Nicole, the business offers a variety of hands-on art classes in stained glass and fused glass, welcoming everyone from curious beginners to experienced makers. Students leave not only with a finished piece but also with the knowledge, inspiration, and confidence to keep creating.

In addition to its creative offerings, Sun Sapphires provides professional in-house services that set it apart from others. These include jewelry and stained-glass repair, appraisals, and gem identification—specialized skills rarely found all in one place. “It’s important to us to offer high-quality, trustworthy services locally,” Adam explains. “Whether someone wants to repair a family heirloom, identify a stone, or get a piece appraised for insurance, we can help.”

The journey started in 2023 when the Parkers bought and reimagined the former Get Fused business. With support from the Colorado Small Business Development Center (SBDC) serving the Southwest—especially advisor Bert Carder—they successfully managed the transition and laid a strong foundation for growth. “The Colorado SBDC helped us think through our goals and gave us honest, practical advice,” Adam says. From business planning and budgeting to branding and customer engagement, the Colorado SBDC offered hands-on support that helped the Parkers clarify their direction and launch with confidence.

Now, two years in, Sun Sapphires has firmly established itself as a creative hub with a strong commitment to craftsmanship, education, and community connection. The studio not only enriches Durango’s arts scene but also supports broader economic goals in the region— contributing to innovation, small business development, and local resilience through its unique blend of art and service.

Whether you're looking for a one-of-a-kind piece of jewelry, eager to learn the art of glasswork, or in need of expert repair and appraisal services, Sun Sapphires provides an experience like no other in the Four Corners region.

With artistry at its core and community in its heart, Sun Sapphires continues to brighten Durango—one gem, one panel, and one class at a time. For more information, visit Sun Sapphires.
