About Our Impact
Our impact data is built entirely on voluntary client reporting, representing a snapshot of about 5% of the businesses we serve each year. While these numbers show significant growth, they are only part of the story—the true reach of our work extends to the many successful clients whose growth goes unrecorded but remains vital to Colorado’s economy.
The Colorado SBDC is funded in part through a Cooperative Agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration. The Colorado SBDC is a partnership between the State of Colorado, Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade, the Small Business Administration (SBA), Colorado’s institutions of higher education, local economic development organizations and local chambers of commerce. This program is supported by Federal Funding.

The Aurora-South Metro SBDC has helped our business connect with technical resources, prime contractors, and other invaluable tools to sustain our business,” said Arthur Gilbert, owner. Fortified Development Trucking doesn’t just talk about hope for the community but they now provide prevailing wages for those who want to work in the transportation industry.
Dave Ellis, Founder
Ellis Canvas Tents, Durango, CO
Through free one-on-one mentoring, the team gained access to knowledgeable advisors who helped them address key challenges like cash flow management, marketing, and strategic planning. They also participated in the Small Business Accelerated Growth program, which provided structured tools for sustainable growth. Additionally, two grants from the Colorado SBDC provided essential breathing room to invest in systems and stability. “The (Colorado) SBDC helped us feel like we weren’t alone,” they shared. “They gave us confidence and a real sense of direction during a time that could’ve easily gone the other way.”
Maria Cooper, Support Staff
Tree of Life Childcare, Thornton, CO
You can have the best business idea, but without visibility, your business won’t thrive. The missing piece is client attraction. We understood this, but didn’t know how to execute it effectively. For us, Diego provided the guidance we needed. Following his advice marked a turning point—phone calls and traffic increased fivefold. Now, our childcare is fully booked, and we’re in the process of expanding.
