Success Story _ MLS Senior Care
MLS Senior Care | Grand Junction, CO
Diana Reed's entrepreneurial path began unexpectedly when she found herself working in the caregiving industry and immediately fell in love with the work. Inspired by this passion, Diana and her close friend, Donna, envisioned launching a caregiving agency that would enrich the lives of both their clients and the employees who shared a heart for the work.
With this dream crystallized, Diana began seeking business guidance and found the Colorado Small Business Development Center (SBDC) in Mesa County, a program hosted by the Business Incubator Center. Her foundational training began in September 2015 with the class, "Pumping up the Dream: Starting a Business in Western Colorado."
Tragically, Donna passed away before their vision could be realized. Honoring her friend's memory, Diana forged ahead. While attending the intensive 12-week strategic planning course, 'Leading Edge,' she officially opened MLS Senior Care, LLC (Must Love Seniors). MLS Senior Care began small, with Diana as the sole employee serving a handful of clients. Today, less than eight years later, the company has exploded. Diana now employs over 100 caregivers and has expanded the enterprise to include two assisted living facilities and a transport business.
MLS Senior Care provides a comprehensive suite of home health services, including wellness checks, meal preparation, companionship, housekeeping, respite care, and full wellness programs. Diana remains a dedicated advocate for the Colorado SBDC, continuing to meet with its advisors and sharing her success story with new entrepreneurs in the 'Leading Edge' course. "I recommend anyone who wants to start a business to check out the SBDC... There is no way I would be where I am today without the SBDC, and business coach Helen Roe, in particular, as well as the support from my husband, Todd, and all of our employees. It was truly a team effort," said Donna.
