Success Story _ Rise Collective Counseling

Rise Collective Counseling | Westminster, CO

The motivation for Megan Giehl to launch her practice, Rise Collective Counseling, stemmed from years of training in systemic relationship therapy. A Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, she sought the flexibility and authenticity of ownership to provide quality, long-term care to her clients—specifically individuals, couples, and families in the Denver Metro area navigating life transitions and relationship challenges in their 20s and 30s.

Megan first learned about the Colorado SBDC in North Metro Denver through a mentor while still in a group practice. She began working with an SBDC advisor within the first year of her business journey, finding the relationship invaluable for both the accountability and encouragement it provided. The advising allowed her to approach her complex goals strategically, piece by piece.

Megan candidly describes the challenge of the transition: "The primary hat I wear is that of a therapist," she says, adding that "becoming a business owner is like fumbling in the dark trying to find this new business hat."

The Colorado SBDC mentorship provided the clarity needed to illuminate the business path. Megan attests to the measurable impact: “My coach has helped me significantly increase my marketing efforts and has helped me overall have a better understanding of good business practices... I’ve been able to increase my caseload, revenue, and have a plan in place for continued marketing efforts. I’m so grateful for this program because the direct mentorship is extremely beneficial.”

While feeling overwhelmed is common in early-stage business discomfort, Megan offers wise advice to fellow entrepreneurs: you don't have to do it alone. She strongly encourages others to find support through the Colorado SBDC and surround themselves with peers and like-minded individuals to successfully navigate the journey.
